Celebrating National Farmers’ Market Week
August 7 – 13, 2022
This week, as we celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week, let us support some of the Farmers’ Markets in the San Fernando Valley. At farmers’ markets, the community is given the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of fresh, local foods from local farms and farmers. And that’s not all, local artisans are able to sell their products from freshly baked breads to homemade jams, and other delicious, seasonal treats.
Apart from the availability of fresh produce, farmers’ markets are a great way to bring the community together and support the local economy. Here are some famers’ markets to support around the San Fernando Valley. Bring your family and friends and make it a fun day out!
Burbank Farmers Market, one of the oldest Farmers Markets in Southern California, started in 1983. Most of the produce come from family-owned farms, some have been in business for over 100 years. Located at the intersection of Olive Ave. and Glenoaks Blvd. in Downtown Burbank, they are open on SATURDAYS only from 8:00AM to 12:00PM, rain or shine. As a not-for-profit market, all proceeds go to the Providence Saint Joseph Foundation. Funds are used to help provide medical care to those who are unable to afford it. Recognized by LA Magazine as the “Best Farmers Market in the San Fernando Valley”, the ONEgeneration Encino Farmers Market brings together over 30 farms from Central and Southern California.
