About My Father’s Business (AMFB), a non-profit homeless outreach ministry in the West San Fernando Valley, is the home of the Hope Dealers—a nickname given to their volunteers, organizations, community leaders and like-minded advocates in support of their mission statement: “We advocate for the unhoused to have seat at the table and a voice in the conversation on homelessness.” They provide meals, water, tents, sleeping bags, clothing, and other necessities in the homeless encampments in and around Canoga Park, Chatsworth, Granada Hills, and Northridge.

AMFB’s Executive Director Pastor Kathy Huck, founded the organization in October 2018 after two decades of serving with various outreach teams and rescue missions, helping the poor and underserved in L.A’s Skid Row, the San Fernando Valley and a number of areas in L.A. county. She’s worked with Hope of The Valley CEO Ken Craft, to bring awareness and assistance to the growing homelessness population. A firm believer in treating everyone with dignity and respect and an advocate for human equality, Pastor Kathy’s mantra is: “I wouldn’t give them any food that I wouldn’t eat. The unhoused deserve a seat at the table and a voice in the conversation.”
Every week Pastor Kathy and the AFMB team visit homeless encampments and provide its residents with meals, water, tents, sleeping bags, clothing, and personal hygiene products. Their outreach efforts continued even during the pandemic. They continued to carry out their mission—while following safety protocols and social distancing. With pantries around the San Fernando Valley closed and supplies scarce, they delivered groceries and donations. They even held an outreach event on March 28, 20220, distributing groceries to about 80 people.

Last year, About My Father’s Business held several West Valley Stronger Together Community Bloc Parties at the Congregational Church of Chatsworth, partnering with FISH of the West Valley, Mend, Or Ami, and Happy Insides, to distribute groceries and hygiene kits, provide a gourmet meal, and even offer free COVID-19 Vaccines. Currently, they provide outreach services to over 30 encampments in Council Districts 3 and 12 in the West San Fernando Valley.
